Open Team Positions

As our ministry grows, so must the size of our team.  The following is a list of open positions that we are looking to fill.

Direct Interaction

Once a week, this team delivers food to at-risk individuals and families. But more important, they provide friendship, conversation, and encouragement. In many ways, they are the “smile” of our organization.

Many of the families we serve simply don’t have the money to make home repairs. Unfortunately, things break with use.

This team is comprised of individuals who are skilled at home repair. Repairs might be simple or complex. Team members will not be asked to work outside of their skill or comfort level. The work is expected to meet industry standards.

The lack of transportation is a huge issue for some of our families. Without a working vehicle, their lives become exponentially harder.

This team has the skills, tools, and willingness to diagnose issues and make repairs.    Any parts and materials will be supplied.

This team builds relationships with families who have middle and high school age children that are having challenges and could use a friend, guidance, and wisdom.

Background checks are required.

Some of the school-age children whom we serve don’t have the best support system.  This impacts many areas of their lives, including their education.

Members of our Tutoring Team assist these students in their academic studies, allowing them to make the most of these developmentally critical years.  It’s an investment in the futures of these students.

Background checks are required.

For some of our Seniors, yard maintenance is not physically possible.  Periodically, we will send teams into these communities to assist with weeding, gutter cleaning, and basic yard maintenance, as well as good conversation when the opportunity presents itself.

Almost no one likes lugging furniture and packing a truck… except these folks.  These individuals thoroughly enjoy the teamwork that forms when you spend a morning or afternoon with other like-minded people helping a family move from Point A to Point B.

Physical exercise, helping people, and building relationships at the same time!  What a great way to spend a morning!

For individuals and families who are lonely and struggling, this team is an emotional lifeline.  They just want to know someone cares and will take the time to listen.  This team shares God’s love to others through time spent, physical presence, and conversation.

Individuals who lack mobility, transportation, or both, often struggle to address their medical needs.  It’s simply too difficult to get from where they are to where a doctor is.

Our medical team is comprised of licensed medical professionals who donate their time and expertise to address the needs of the sick who find themselves in this situation.  It’s a little bit of time that makes a huge difference if the lives those who lack mobility and transportation.

Logistics

Our shopping team is responsible for using our cash donations as efficiently as possible. They purchase food weekly for our Home Delivery Team. We are looking to expand this team.

Every week our Food Box Packing team will prepare the boxes of food that we deliver to our families on Wednesday.  Grab a box, read the list, and fill the box with the requested items.  It’s that simple.

This team is responsible for transporting items between locations. Often this involves picking up Publix bakery donations and delivering them to our partner ministries.

As Big C Outreach grows and expands our reach, we will need to expand our administrative team to makes sure we are organized and compliant with State regulations.  If you have administrative experience and enjoy that kind of work, please let us know.  We are always looking for good help.

Support

This team accepts the responsibility to pray for God’s leadership of our organization, the families we serve, and any special prayer requests. This is an essential and critical team. Without this team, our organization will be significantly less effective.

This team is tasked with writing notes of encouragement to the families to whom we deliver food. The notes are added to the boxes of food.

A lack of nutrient-rich food is one of the issues that our families routinely face.  And the food we deliver weekly is primarily processed, shelf-stable food.

The Gardening Team coaches interested families on how to grow their own food using simple systems and easily obtained materials that address their specific environmental issues.  The team also teaches our families how to compost food scraps, harvest seeds, and preserve food.

When dealing with a crisis, whether a death in the family or a hospitalization, many people don’t have the energy or focus to prepare meals as usual.

This team serves by preparing and delivering food to families dealing with a crisis.

These individuals are willing to financially support our ministry activities. This might include donating money for food, materials needed to repair a home, or a special need. Ministry requires materials, and materials cost money. These individuals give freely and cheerfully.

Special events, such as the Coat and Blanket Drive, the Shoe and Sock Drive, and the Produce Giveaway, require a lot of planning and coordination.  Recruiting volunteers, reserving venues and equipment are just some of the tasks necessary to make a special event successful.  If you have that skill set and enjoy this kind of work, please let us know.

Do you a special knack for locating recourses?  Whenever our families reach out to us with a need they have, we often turn to the Resource Team first to see if someone has a used item that they are willing to donate.  If being part of this team sounds like fun, please let us know.

Under-employment is a huge issue with our families.  Many of them have significant issues that have prevented them from finding long-term work.  If you have experience in helping folks find employment, please let us know.  It’s a constant need.

Quality housing is a never-ending need.  Some of our families pay remarkably high rental prices for homes that are in disrepair; they don’t have many options.  We are looking for individuals who have the expertise and knowledge to address the housing needs of our families.

This team has the expertise to connect individuals and families with the appropriate available services and resources, whether they be governmental, non-profit, or otherwise.

We are looking for attorneys and paralegals who can help our families with issues ranging from drivers license issues, real property title issues, probate, and others.  Many of our families don’t know how to make the law work for them.  If you have that expertise, we can use your help.

We are looking for individuals who have the expertise to make our website an effective communication tool. We have ideas, but lack the knowledge to make it happen. If you do, please let us know.
