Christ Came to Us
The good news of the Gospel is simply this:
Jesus left the glory he deserved and stepped into the darkness of a broken world, died, and rose again to provide us with the opportunity to have a restored relationship with God.
The Gospel starts with Jesus leaving the comfort of his rightful place of honor and entering the discomfort of our fallen world. Why? Because of love. Love for you and me.
Let’s Go to Them
In a small way, Christmas caroling mirrors the actions of Jesus.
For a few hours, we have the opportunity to leave the comfort of our homes and churches with candles, Christmas trees, and decorations to go out into the night and share the good news of God’s love with folks dealing with life’s struggles and emptiness.
This simple act of love communicates that “You are not forgotten. God sees you. And you are deeply loved.”
In years past, this simple gesture has brought some of the people we visit to tears. Many times, the impact is clear – surprise and gratitude. What a blessing to be part of it!
There’s a Party Too!
After we finish up the caroling, we meet back at Orange County Academy for hot chocolate and cookies. Often, folks from the community join us. It’s a beautiful time of connecting with both friends we know and some folks we don’t.
